: Hi Stefanos, We have just returned home to cold, windy Blackpool having had the best holiday ever at Villa Melia. The highlight of the holiday was learning to water-ski within 10 minutes! Unbelievable!! Thankyou for sharing your expertise with so many people. You are a very gifted teacher. Hope to see you very soon, lots of love Clare, Mark, Chris and Rebecca

: Dear Stefanos + Jasmine This was our first visit to Skiathos and it has proved to be a fantastic place. We stayed in the resort of Troulos and visited many beaches on the island which were all very good. It was a few days into our holiday when we discovered Vassilias beach and Stefanos ski school, you made all my family Zoe,Bradley and Samuel feel very welcome and the boys absolutely loved the skiing, after just one lesson on the bar they were both able to ski on the rope for the rest of the holiday, the tuition was excellent and patient.I would recommend to everyone to visit this beach and try out all the watersports as Stefanos places more emphasis on enjoyment and service rather than, you get a strict 5 minutes on each ride or ski and goodbye. We will all definately see you soon. As a climax to the skiing i recommend everyone should try the expert ringos alongside Manos, they are very good. Besr regards Paul,Julie,Zoe,Bradley,Smuel and Norma

: Thanks for a brilliant lesson. I can now ski on water but Stefanos can walk on it! Hiring a boat is definately the best way to see this fantastic Island. The second best way is to see it underwater. Many thanks to Theo and Eva at the Octopus Dive School. We'll be back. Simon, Lindsay, Rennie and Laurenne.

Having recently returned from Skiathos (Aghia Paraskevi). I would like make some comments which may be beneficial to future travellers.
Having researched the prices of hiring a car we decided that we would hire a boat (as we mainly wanted to go from beach to beach).
After more research we decided to hire one from Stefanos at Vassilias beach http://www.skiathosfun.com
Stefanos could not have been more helpful – he made our holiday. He is not the usual ‘beach bandit' out to make a quick shilling. He speaks fluent English having lived in the UK where he completed his Ski Instructors Certificate. If you hire from him he will give you an excellent discount for more than a few days hire.
The motor boats are easy to handle – if you can drive a car you can drive one of these - and no previous experience is necessary. Stefanos will spend time chatting with you getting to know you personally and telling you all about Greece and Skiathos – by the way (he makes an excellent Frappe).
He will take as much time as you need and give you all the necessary instruction to operate the boat safely, tell you how you can circumnavigate the island and all the different beaches, islands and tavernas you can go to.
He will give you a map of the island and point out any areas that could be hazardous – then when you are completely happy you are away.
I would be very surprised if by the end of your hire period you are not happy. It is certainly a more pleasant way of getting about than sweltering in a 4x4 that struggles to climb some of the hills! Nearly every day we would find beaches to ourselves and either take a picnic or nip around to the next beach with a taverna for lunch. (try Little Asselinos – the guy who runs it is very friendly and is a mine of information having lived on Skiathos all his life).
As far as Aghia Paraskevi is concerned There are no shortage of places to eat. Most serving the same fare. However the one which we particularly enjoyed was Taverna Calma – OK a bit of a walk (10 minutes from bus stop 16 towards Platanias village. It is a lovely setting and the service from Maria and her husband is wonderful. No paper table clothes here all linen and huge portions. If you like seafood I can highly recommend the Mussels Saganaki and the Grilled Prawns – you will not be disappointed and all for a similar price to the other tavernas. One word of warning, if you use the supermarket on the main road (Next door to the Iguana Pool Bar) – check your change a few times we found it had been rounded up to the nearest euro!!!
